Newmont Mining (NYS: NEM) reported earnings on Feb. 21. Here are the numbers you need to know.

EPS came in at $1.11. The 19 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $0.97 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $1.11 for Q4 were 5.1% lower than the prior-year quarter's $1.17 per share. GAAP EPS were $1.36 for Q4 versus -$2.08 per share for the prior-year quarter.

Margin details
For the quarter, gross margin was 56.3%, 400 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 26.1%, much worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 27.2%, much better than the prior-year quarter.

Looking ahead
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $2.55 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $1.04.

Next year's average estimate for revenue is $10.67 billion. The average EPS estimate is $4.45.
