WellPoint Increases Dividend by 30 Percent

INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- WellPoint, Inc. (NYS: WLP) today announced that its Board of Directors authorized an increase of approximately 30 percent in the Company's shareholder dividend and declared a $0.375 per share dividend for the first quarter of 2013. This quarterly rate represents an annualized dividend of $1.50 per share, which equates to a yield of approximately 2.4 percent based on the Company's stock price at yesterday's close of trading on the New York Stock Exchange. The first quarter dividend is payable on March 25, 2013, to shareholders of record at the close of business on March 8, 2013. The Company continues to expect a return of capital to shareholders of approximately two billion dollars during 2013, between its share repurchase and dividend programs, subject to Company and market conditions.
