Activision Blizzard Announces "Diablo 3" for Sony Game Consoles
Video game company Activision Blizzard announced in a press statement Wednesday that subsidiary Blizzard Entertainment is developing its action-role-playing game Diablo III, the latest entry in the award-winning Diablo series, for Sony's PlayStation 3 entertainment console. Blizzard also released plans to develop the game for Sony's recently unveiled, next-generation PlayStation 4 console.
Blizzard originally released Diablo III for PC in May 2012. It became the fastest-selling PC game of all time within 24 hours and, since then, the game has sold more than 12 million copies across the globe. The company announced that the PlayStation version of the game will be based on the original PC experience, including all previous updates to the game, along with a new user interface.
Blizzard Entertainment co-founder and CEO Mike Morhaime commented on the move in the company statement, saying:
Diablo III looks and plays great on the PlayStation...We put a lot of care and thought into the PlayStation version to make sure it would deliver an authentic Diablo gaming experience, and we're really pleased with the results.
While the press release did not specify a release date for the game, Blizzard did note that the game will be shown at the PAX East gaming convention in late March.
