Luke Walling of AVG Technologies Recognized as one of UBM Tech Channel's CRN 2013 Channel Chiefs

AMSTERDAM & SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Luke Walling, vice president of Sales and Operations at AVG Technologies N.V. (NYS: AVG) , has been named one of UBM Tech Channel's CRN 2013 Channel Chiefs. Selected by CRN's editorial staff, this prestigious list of the most influential and powerful leaders in the IT channel recognizes those executives directly responsible for driving channel sales and growth within their organization, while evangelizing and defending the importance of the channel throughout the entire IT Industry.

Former reseller and service provider Walling, who oversees all aspects of channel engagement from sales to technical support and marketing for AVG North America, has brought a unique vantage point to his post. He joined AVG, the provider of Internet and mobile security to 143 million active users, through the acquisition of his business, Walling Data, which focused on value-added distribution of products and services to the channel.

"I am deeply honored by the UBM Channel Chief award," said Walling. "All of us in AVG's leadership team have at one time or other lived and breathed the needs of the channel and I am very proud to be part of this. Our philosophy is all about engaging with our partners first to find out what they need and want from our products and programs. We understand they know best when it comes to the needs of their SMB customers."

Among AVG's key accomplishments during the past year was the introduction of AVG CloudCare™ small business IT management platform, which was created with the input of resellers and managed service providers. AVG CloudCare has won praise from the channel for providing small business resellers and MSPs a free-of-charge, easy-to-use cloud-based administrative platform. AVG CloudCare offers tools that allow them to remotely deploy AVG's award-winning antivirus and content filtering services. It also allows resellers to remotely manage their customers' IT and provides them with priority alerts via a single easy-to-use console.

AVG recently announced that 1,000 resellers have signed on as partners for AVG CloudCare since its debut in the fall of 2012. AVG CloudCare was tested, accepted and adopted by hundreds of resellers during a six-month beta program prior to its October 2012 launch. The program helped Channel partners prepare and train for transitioning their customers to AVG CloudCare.

For over ten years, Channel Chiefs were selected by the CRN editorial team based on channel experience, program innovations, channel-driven revenue, and public support for the importance of IT Channel Sales. The 2013 Channel Chiefs list is featured in the 2/25/13 issue of CRN Magazine and will be featured online at www.crn.com.

"The 2013 Channel Chiefs list recognizes vendor executives dedicated to driving channel programs in the IT marketplace," said Kelley Damore, senior vice president, editorial director, CRN. "Our annual Channel Chiefs issue is a must-read for IT solution providers evaluating new vendors or looking to expand solution offerings. These are the people, the products and the programs that any savvy solution provider needs to know. We congratulate this year's Channel Chiefs for their stellar record of business innovation and applaud them for their continued dedication to the partner community."
