Dish Network (NAS: DISH) reported earnings on Feb. 20. Here are the numbers you need to know.

For the quarter ended Dec. 31 (Q4), Dish Network met expectations on revenues and missed estimates on earnings per share.
Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue dropped slightly. GAAP earnings per share contracted significantly.

EPS came in at $0.46. The 17 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ anticipated $0.52 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.46 for Q4 were 33% lower than the prior-year quarter's $0.69 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 38.4%, 410 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 12.7%, 390 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 5.8%, 280 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter.
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $3.63 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.60.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $14.76 billion. The average EPS estimate is $2.38.
The stock has a two-star rating (out of five) at Motley Fool CAPS, with 306 members out of 397 rating the stock outperform, and 91 members rating it underperform. Among 114 CAPS All-Star picks (recommendations by the highest-ranked CAPS members), 86 give Dish Network a green thumbs-up, and 28 give it a red thumbs-down.
