Reuters: Apple Hacked, Just Like Facebook
In a statement provided to Reuters, Apple admits that it was the victim of a cyber-security breach, according to a report on Reuters' website today.
The report says the statement indicates Apple is working with law enforcement to track down the hackers, that the company has identified only a "small number of systems within Apple" that were infected, and that there is no evidence any data left Apple.
Apple isn't the only major tech player that's recently been on the receiving end of some unwanted (and illegal) cyber attention. Facebook announced Friday that it was cyber-attacked last month. The social network said no user data were compromised, though it did say that it was not the lone victim in the situation, only "one of the first companies to discover this malware."
While it's unclear whether the same malicious software was used for the Apple attack, Reuters reported that both attacks were carried out using the same software.
