Rolls-Royce Gets $9 Million to Maintain USMC MV-22 Osprey Fleet

On Wednesday, the Department of Defense announced that it has awarded Rolls-Royce Corp of Indianapolis a $9 million contract "modification" to a previously awarded firm-fixed-price contract. The contract in question called upon Rolls to evaluate engine performance, and conduct any necessary repairs on AE1107C engines that power the U.S. Marine Corps fleet of MV-22 tiltrotor Osprey aircraft built by the Textron and Boeing joint venture Bell Boeing.

The current modification of the original award hires Rolls to perform engineering services supporting an additional 5,886 flight hours on the USMC's MV-22 fleet, and is expected to run through November 2013.
