Nintendo dubs 2013 'The Year of Luigi' with new games and DLC
The house that built Mario has opted to give Luigi some love this Valentine's Day. During one of its famous Nintendo Direct video conferences, Nintendo announced several new games and downloadable content that will either focus on or include Mario's taller brother. Those include official launch dates for known upcoming games, like Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon slated for March 24.
Nintendo also announced Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, a new installment in the acclaimed Mario & Luigi role-playing game series headed for the 3DS this summer. The big N also teased a major piece of DLC for New Super Mario Bros. U titled simply New Super Luigi U, which will feature new renditions of the game's over 80 stages centered around the mustachioed man in green. This seemingly massive update will be available as a single download, though no launch date was mentioned.
A new Mario Golf is in the works, titled Mario Golf: World Tour, for the 3DS this summer. And finally, Animal Crossing: New Leaf has received a North American release date: June 9. The hit Wii game Donkey Kong Country Returns will also receive a 3D makeover this summer with a release on the 3DS.
A number of eShop games, videos and demos were also announced, including HarmoKnight from the creators of Pokemon on March 28. For the full scoop, check out the Nintendo Direct broadcast in full right here.
