F5 Will Buy LineRate for Undisclosed Sum

On Monday, F5 Networksannounced that it has agreed to buy software-defined networking (SDN) services developer LineRate Systems for an undisclosed sum.

In a statement describing the acquisition, F5 said: "The LineRate acquisition aligns with F5's vision for application control plane architecture and goal of delivering application-layer SDN services to bring superior agility, application intelligence, and programmability to software defined data centers."

F5 also noted that "LineRate's software defined solution is an early stage product." The company said "the acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on the company's operating results."
