Genesis Hospitality Group Deploys Meru Wi-Fi Designed to Ensure High Quality Online Experiences for Guests and Business Event Attendees

Meru's ease of installation and management required no IT staff and has measurably increased guest and visitor satisfaction

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Meru Networks, Inc. (NAS: MERU) , a leader in virtualized wireless LAN solutions, today announced that Genesis Hospitality Group has deployed Meru Networks' access solutions to connect guests and business event attendees at its six properties in central Canada to the Internet.

The Best Western Inn on the Bay is one of the Genesis Group's premier properties, an upscale corporate hotel in a resort setting overlooking Georgian Bay in Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada. It's a frequent destination for both vacationers and small conferences with business travelers, who compose 40 percent of its annual revenues.

"Meru was best positioned to meet all of our guests needs, which vary widely," said Jason Hemstock, general manager. "Because all the APs use the same channel, interference from channel overlap has never been an issue. When guests walk around with laptops or, more commonly today, tablets, they never lose connectivity or break their mobility."

When the hotel, which has no IT staff and hired none for installation or management of the network, began seeking a solution that would meet the needs of both families and its highly selective executive patrons, along with the multitudes of wireless devices they all bring along, they had a lot to consider. Reliability, security and performance were obviously critical, but so were ease of installation and management. Focusing on these aspects of the technology, they considered several vendors' solutions before selecting Meru.

After the successful deployment at The Best Western Inn on the Bay, the Genesis Group selected Meru for its other five properties, the Victoria Inns at Brandon, MB; Flin Flon, MB; Thunder Bay, ON; Winnipeg, MB and The Royal Oak Inn at Brandon, MB.

"Hospitality leaders like the Genesis group stake their reputations on the flawless delivery of services such as wireless connectivity," said Srinath Sarang, co-founder and general manager of hospitality and entertainment solutions at Meru. "Especially with such a high percentage of their revenue coming from business travelers, they simply cannot afford to risk failure in this area. We are very pleased that they selected Meru, and look forward to working to meet their and their customers needs well into the future."
