Starz and Sony Renew First-Run Deal

Updated

Starz and Sony have extended their first-run agreement. The deal gives Starz the exclusive pay-TV rights to show Sony's film releases through 2021. The existing agreement had been set to expire at the end of 2016.

Major releases that will soon air on Starz's channels include the box office hits The Amazing Spider-Man, 21 Jump Street, and Oscar Best Picture candidate Zero Dark Thirty.

Starz quoted its CEO Chris Albrecht as saying of the deal that "Starz will continue to offer the richest premium TV viewing experience for our subscribers and distributors for years to come, thanks to STARZ' growing original programming slate, along with the robust lineup of new blockbuster Sony releases and our deep movie library."
