Mobile hit Squids coming to TVs near you in animated series

Updated

Just days after learning that Zynga and Brett Ratner will be bringing FarmVille to life as an animated series, another popular video game is being given the same treatment. This time, it's The Game Bakers' Squids, which was released on iOS back in 2011.

The turn-based RPG starring underwater creatures has been downloaded over 1.5 million times across iOS and Android, and the TV series itself will follow four octopus characters as they travel around underwater kingdoms in an attempt to defeat the evil Baron before he can ruin the entire underwater world. Frima Studio and Moonscoop have partnered to create the television series.

"Ambitious projects like Squids allow us to showcase the talent of Frima's artists and animators," said Steve Couture, CEO of Frima Studio, via a company release. "As an experienced mobile game developer ourselves, we're well positioned to create a show worthy of this popular title with the world-renowned team at Moonscoop."

There's no official launch date for the Squids television series, but we'll make sure to update you when we learn more about its arrival on TVs near you.
