Aetna Appoints Michael Kolodziej, M.D., to Lead Oncology Strategies

HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Aetna (NYSE: AET) announced today that Michael Kolodziej, M.D., joined the company in January as national medical director for Oncology Strategies. He leads the strategic development, design and implementation of Aetna's cancer care programs.

Kolodziej comes to Aetna from US Oncology where he served as medical director for oncology services and was chairman of the US Oncology Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee. He specializes in hematology and medical oncology and is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Kolodziej was a medical oncologist with New York Oncology Hematology, Albany Cancer Center.

After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis, MO and his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine, Kolodziej completed his internship at Barnes Hospital at Washington University in 1985. He completed residencies in internal medicine and hematology-oncology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 1987, and his fellowship in the Hematology-Oncology Section of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 1991. He has been published in more than 50 medical journal articles, abstracts and book chapters.
