Starbucks Opens First Store in India's Capital

Updated

Starbucks on Wednesday launched its first store in India's capital of New Delhi.

Operated through Tata Starbucks Limited, a 50/50 joint venture between the American company and a unit of local drinks concern Tata Global Beverages, the store is located in the colonial-era Connaught Place. It is 3,500 square feet in size and staffed with nearly 40 employees, according to reports.

This store is the seventh Starbucks in the country. The company opened its first Indian outlet in Mumbai last October, following with an additional three in that city and two in New Delhi's airport (which is technically located outside of the municipality proper). All Starbucks in India are operated through the joint venture with Tata.
