The great philosopher Aaliyah once said, "If at first you don't succeed, dust yourself off and try again." Zynga CEO Mark Pincus revealed during the company's recent earnings call that the FarmVille franchise will return to mobile along with games in new categories for mobile devices. The move was announced alongside the unfortunate closing of CityVille 2, The Friend Game and Party Place.

"We're both bringing existing major franchises like FarmVille 2 to mobile and launching new potential franchises in multiple categories," Pincus said, Inside Social Games reports. The announcement rings in a new approach for the social game maker that the Zynga chief dubbed a "mobile-first focus"--the developer's top priority for 2013.

According to ISG, Pincus claims that mobile gamers spend more time in Zynga's mobile games than those offered by the next five most popular game makers combined. So, yeah, between that and the consistently-dropping numbers on Facebook web games, a mobile-first focus makes complete sense. The question is, however, do FarmVille players want FarmVille 2 on, say, an iPad?
