Nebraska State Records Board Extends Contract with Nebraska Interactive, LLC

LINCOLN, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- During a special meeting and vote held at the State Capitol on January 31, 2013, the Nebraska State Records Board approved a two-year contract renewal to Nebraska Interactive LLC, the company which manages and maintains the official state government website, Nebraska.gov, and develops most online services for state agencies. The unique public-private partnership allows for online services to be developed at no cost to the state, and without requiring the state to invest in the needed infrastructure and personnel to provide similar services.

The Nebraska State Records Board oversees and manages electronic access to state government information. This includes the authority to contract with a network manager for state government information and the authority to set reasonable fees for access to records.

"Positive testimony was received from witnesses for the five major users of the nearly 300 online services currently available to the public," said Nebraska Secretary of State John Gale, who serves as the chairman of the Nebraska State Records Board. "Performance and quality of service have been excellent. Seventy-one new online services have been developed in the past two years. So, the Board was confident that the extension had been earned."

The state has been partnering with Nebraska Interactive since 1995. The current contract with Nebraska Interactive LLC started in 2010 and was set to expire January 31, 2014. The January 31st vote renews the contract for an additional two years.

"This renewal is a testament to the high quality work the Nebraska.gov staff has been producing with our partners," said Brent Hoffman, General Manager of Nebraska Interactive. "My team and I look forward to continuing to work with the NSRB and the State of Nebraska to provide new and innovative online services for many years to come."

This past year, Nebraska.gov ranked among the Top 10 state government websites in the country. In addition, Nebraska Interactive partnered with the State to develop Online Handicap Permits with the Department of Motor Vehicles as well as the Online Student Waiver program this past year. Both services are the first of their kind in the nation to be launched by a state government.
