Desert de Oro Foods Standardizes on Panasonic Attune® for Seamless Drive-Thru Communication

Improved Sound Clarity and Headset Durability Enhances Customer Service at Taco Bell Restaurants

SECAUCUS, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Panasonic, an industry leader in reliable food services solutions, today published a new case study highlighting Desert de Oro Foods' successful deployment of the Attune® drive-thru communications system, which has improved drive-thru efficiency and increased overall customer satisfaction. Established in 1982, Desert de Oro Foods is Arizona's largest Taco Bell franchisee with a total of 140 locations in Arizona, California and Utah. The family-owned company prides itself on putting people first and strives to offer a positive, seamless drive-thru experience for guests and drive-thru team members.

Desert de Oro Foods' Taco Bell locations had a range of drive-thru communications systems that were deployed over the last five years. Restaurants were experiencing increased customer drive-thru wait times due to the poor sound quality of the current systems. Additionally, drive-thru headsets were consistently breaking. As a result, Desert de Oro Foods had to keep extra headsets on hand to prevent a reduction in drive-thru staff when failures occurred. The cost of repairing, retrofitting plus downtime as well as extremely poor sound quality made it clear to Parrish Jackson, Director of IT for Desert de Oro Foods, a new solution needed to be considered.

R.F. Technologies Inc., a leading drive-thru reseller, introduced Jackson to Panasonic's Attune drive-thru communications system, and the team began an extensive in-store pilot program with multiple vendors. After thorough testing, Jackson selected Attune because of its exceptional sound clarity, user-friendly base station, universal speakers, microphones and durable headset design. Desert de Oro Foods deployed Attune at ten restaurant locations. Due to the system's success, Desert de Oro Foods decided to standardize with Panasonic for all refreshes and new store builds. During the second quarter of 2013, Desert de Oro Foods will replace all analog drive-thru systems with Attune.

"We are very pleased with our decision to standardize on Panasonic's Attune in order to serve our drive-thru guests in a timely and smooth manner," said Jackson. "With the reliability and durability of Attune, Desert de Oro Foods has been able to save time and money, while providing an exceptional customer experience."

Since the deployment, Desert de Oro Foods has received zero complaints from stores using Attune. The company estimates it will save around $4,000 in repair costs alone over a 10 year system life when compared to the other major brands on the market.
