ADTRAN Awarded for Excellence in Packet Optical Networking and Mobile Broadband Strategies

ONE™ recognized with TMC's Mobility Tech Zone Visionary Award for advancing wireless broadband services delivery

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ADTRAN®, Inc., (NAS: ADTN) , a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, today announced that TMC and Crossfire Media have named ADTRAN's Optical Networking Edge (ONE) solution a recipient of the 2012 Mobility Tech Zone LTE Visionary Award. Honored for developing a long term evolution backhaul solution geared towards bridging the gap between mobile broadband wireless and wireline, ADTRAN's ONE allows operators to modernize their network for new LTE services and avoid the high costs and network complexity associated with traditional deployments.

ONE leverages packet optical networking innovation to address the capacity bottlenecks created by the often combined aggregation of high-bandwidth services from homes, businesses and cell sites. With the ability to bridge the gap between network access and transport, ONE allows service providers to leverage their existing network assets by extending the bandwidth efficiencies of the core to the optical edge, metro and middle-mile. By combining wavelength, Ethernet and OTN switching separation with a web-based service level agreement (SLA) monitoring tool, each type of traffic can be guaranteed and provisioned over a common network infrastructure as needed with ONE. Additionally, the scalable, compact Reconfigurable Optical Add/Drop Multiplexer (mini-ROADM) system-on-a-blade, provides service providers with more operational flexibility that is essential for cost effectively responding to shifts in traffic and capacity demands throughout their networks.

"ADTRAN has optimized its packet optical technology in order to redefine service delivery and aggregation; essentially blurring the boundaries between access and transport," said Mano Nachum, packet optical solutions product line manager for ADTRAN's Carrier Networks Division. "ADTRAN's innovation is focused on further right-sizing core packet optical technology and uniquely differentiating the products to address current and future services, while speeding up time-to-revenue, eliminating complexity, simplifying operations and reducing overall costs."

"It is a pleasure to recognize ADTRAN with this award. Their contribution toward the future of mobile broadband is noteworthy," stated Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. "I look forward to more innovation from ADTRAN in the future."
