Upcoming Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U releases for February 2013

Updated

One month down in the year 2013 and it's time to kick off February. The shortest month of the year is actually jam packed with some pretty awesome Xbox 360 and PS3 games. Whether you're a fan of horror shooters, games based on movies, sequels to games based on Anime or just games that star an incredibly bad ass cyborg with a katana that can slash through anything, February has the right game for you.

Dead Space 3 - February 5th (Xbox 360, PS3)

Dead Space has certainly come a long way, and in that regard, so has Isaac Clarke. Starting off as a lowly engineer, he is now a fully fledged bad ass. He's not the only protagonist in the upcoming threequel. He'll be joined by John Carver, making Dead Space 3 the first game in the series to utilize co-operative play.

Those who are wary of the game being too different, and perhaps, too easy, can replay the game in multiple modes that we outline here.

Also make sure to check out our hands-on impressions from the Dead Space 3 event in San Francisco, as well as our demo impressions, which also featured some heavy crafting.

Fist of the North Star: Ken's Rage 2 - February 5th (Xbox 360, PS3) February 7th (Wii U)

Fist of the North Star is no Dragon Ball Z, however those who did follow the Anime will be pleased to know that a follow-up to Ken's Rage is set to come out this month.

Ken's Rage 2 will feature gameplay that's much closer to the Dynasty Warriors titles, with much more enemies on screen and faster map movement. This change is certainly welcome as the first game was much slower, and somewhat clunky when it came to combat.

You can check out our First of the North Star: Ken's Rage review here. Let's hope that the follow up will be much better.

Aliens: Colonial Marines - February 12th (Xbox 360, PS3) Coming Soon (Wii U)

Serving as a sequel to Aliens, Colonial Marines will take the narrative further as you play as Corporal Christopher Winter, a marine part of a search and rescue team sent to investigate the U.S.S. Sulaco and to find Ellen Ripley.

We were lucky enough to get our hands on the game multiple times. During E3 2012, we got to check out the multiplayer for the game for the very first time, finally being able to pit the Xenos and Marines head to head.

We also got to check out Escape Mode, which is a four player co-operative mode, much like Left 4 Dead, where players have to work together to survive the Xeno onslaught.

Lastly, during the New York Comic Con 2012, we also got a glimpse at the more suspenseful side of Aliens: Colonial Marines, which showcased a lot of the single player portion, and what players can expect once they boot up the game.

Crysis 3 - February 19th (Xbox 360, PS3)

I think we're finally past the "can it run Crysis" phase. Crysis 2 built up on the first game by introducing a bigger narrative, more gadgets, and a bigger environment. Crysis 3 is shaping up to trump its predecessors once again.

Crysis 3 puts gamers back into the shoes of Prophet. The game will focus less on being the hunted, and more on being the hunter. Not to mention, the game looks absolutely phenomenal.

The Multiplayer Beta released a few days ago and we had our best people check it out. That's right, the two people who never played a Crysis game hopped online and checked the game out for themselves.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance - February 19th (Xbox 360, PS3)

After supposedly being cancelled, MGR was revived by Platinum Studios (Bayonetta, Anarchy Reigns). The game will still feature the bad ass cyborg, Raiden, of Metal Gear Solid 2 and 4 fame, as well as the cutting mechanics that will allow you to slash your enemies into hundreds of little pieces.

Taking place after the events of MGS 4, Rising will have players assume the role of Raiden, who is working for the PMCs and encounters an army of cyborgs from Desperado Enterprises who have been involved in various terrorist attacks.

We got a chance to try out the demo and check out Raiden's action-based gameplay, and we came out pretty impressed. While the precision sword slashing takes some getting used to, it's extremely satisfying to watch your enemies break up into tiny pieces.

Rayman Legends - February 26th (Wii U)

Rayman Origins was an absolutely fantastic platformer that unfortunately didn't do that amazing in terms of sales. That didn't stop the Ubisoft team developing a follow up to the game, titled Rayman Legends.

This time as a Wii U exclusive, the game will utilize the Gamepad in many ways. Whether its tilting it to manipulate the level, or controlling certain characters with it.

The art style looks absolutely amazing and we can't wait to get our hands on it.
