Temple Run 2 officially the fastest-growing mobile game to date

Angry Birds what? Developer Imangi Studios has announced that Temple Run 2 has amassed 50 million downloads in just 13 days since launch across iOS, Android and Kindle devices. More importantly, the ubiquitous endless runner sequel has broken the almighty Rovio's record of 50 million downloads of Angry Birds Space in 35 days.

"Temple Run has evolved into something so much bigger than us," Imangi Studios co-founder Keith Shepherd said in a release. "The game has performed beyond our wildest dreams, and we are thrilled that gamers and fans have embraced Temple Run 2 in such a short period of time."

It's easy to chalk up this wild success to the immense amount of branding and merchandise surrounding the franchise, from the collaboration with Disney through Temple Run: Brave to digital comics, board games, clothing and more. But It also helps that Temple Run 2 improves upon the original in nearly every way. All the branding in the world can't help a poor game, and a poor game Temple Run 2 certainly is not.
