Apple Adds High-Capacity 128 GB iPad
Following recent reports to the same effect, Apple has now announced a new 128 GB storage configuration for its fourth-generation iPad with Retina display. The 128 GB models will cost a $100 premium over the 64 GB models, in line with the company's prior pricing strategy, bringing the 128 GB Wi-Fi model to $799 and 128 GB cellular model to $929.
The company said the new configuration will be available on Feb. 5, one week from today. Adding the 128 GB option will make the iPad a more viable alternative to traditional laptops and PCs or even entry-level MacBooks. The 11-inch MacBook Air starts at $999 with 64 GB of storage.
The iPad Mini that starts at lower price points did not receive any updates.
