If You Want to Be Successful, Be Interested, Not Interesting

Brendan Byrnes: Another thing you say about being an entrepreneur or having your own business at least is you say, "It's far more important to be interested in the customer's needs than it is to be interesting." I really like that quote. Can you expand on what you mean by that?
Ping Fu: Yes, what I learned by studying what problems there are in the market that we can help to solve or learning what customers are doing, I realized that customers aren't interested in whether you're a smart person or not. What they're interested in is ... can you solve their problem? So if you're not truly, from your heart, interested in what issues they have or what problem they have. You're not going to be inspired to find a solution. And a lot of times people go into the customer side and they think they need to be confident and smart but that's not the case in my journey.
