Amazon Kindle Exclusively Publishes Stephen King

Updated

Stephen King has published a personal essay, "Guns," exclusively in Amazon.com's Kindle Store as a Kindle Single. Launched in 2011, Kindle Singles range from 5,000 to 30,000 words -- a word length that Amazon calls, "too long for a magazine article and too short for a book." Singles also allow for top authors to publish their works within days.

After finishing "Guns" last Friday, King said, "I wanted it published quickly, and Kindle Singles provided an excellent fit." He hopes that his essay will provoke "constructive debate" on gun control.

Customers can access Kindle Singles on a Kindle device or on most other mobile devices with the Kindle Cloud Reader app.
