ChefVille Aftertaste: Two steps forward, one step back

Updated

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I have plenty of complaints about ChefVille, but I'm also not above complimenting Zynga when it makes changes for the better of the game. Today is one of those times, as observant players might have noticed that building projects have gotten a bit easier to complete over the past few weeks.

Sure, items like the new Sesame Seed Crate or Southern Comfort Food Station still require building materials to construct, but many of the game's newest items have required fewer kinds of items to build, or have increased the amount of items that can be earned via general news posts, rather than relying so heavily on individual posts sent to neighbors. The first change obviously speeds things up, since, as an example, you may only need to collect 10 individual items rather than 15 or more to complete a single project.

The second change is even better though, since it allows you to complete projects with the help of far fewer friends. The same friend can click on as many news posts as you can send them, while individual requests are just that: one of a kind requests that can only be responded to by single friends, one at a time.

Of course, just as some building projects have become easier to complete, the game has been given back some challenge via the release of so many timed quests. This is an issue we've discussed heavily in the past, and it's a trend that doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon. In fact, it's only picking up steam, as we're currently in the middle of three different timed events as we speak.

Still, with easier to complete building projects, this will hopefully allow players to make faster progress in the game's many timed quests. I know it's personally helped my game - has it helped yours?
