Fans of indie rock group Arcade Fire were all atwitter last week when the band tweeted a listing for the Quebec church-turned-recording studio where they recorded their albums "Neon Bible" and "The Suburbs," which won the Grammy Album of the Year in 2011. "Anyone want to buy a church?" Arcade Fire said on Twitter, linking to a Sutton Real Estate listing for the sanctuary. Within seconds, fans of the band began making wishful bids for the property.

The 162-year-old church sits about 40 miles outside Montreal. It's up for sale for $325,000, quite a markup from the $200,000 price tag Arcade Fire paid for it in 2006, according to Paste magazine. The 15,751-square-foot property's price appreciation appears to have weathered a recent roof collapse, which forced Arcade Fire to go elsewhere to record their upcoming album, due out later this year. (Hey, that's star power for you!) The listing estimates that the cost of the roof repair will be between $24,300 and $44,200.

According to the Ottawa Citizen, Arcade Fire rented the church out to other musicians, including Timber Timbre and Colin Stetson, when they weren't using it. "It's important to have a place in a music scene that's kind of a world-class studio where people can record, because if you don't document it, then nobody will ever hear it," Arcade Fire lead singer Win Butler was quoted as saying after the band's 2011 Grammy victory.

The "very private" church, "located on a quiet street" of a village, has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a laundry room and a mechanical room in the renovated basement. There's a kitchen and dining room adjoining the nave, and the church is within walking distance of shops and schools. The listings suggests that the space be used as an artist's studio or a community center.
