Pentagon Awards Alliant Techsystems $41 Million Ammunition Contract

Updated

On Tuesday, the Department of Defense announced that it has awarded Alliant Techsystems a $41 million firm-fixed-price contract to supply the Army with "high explosive incendiary with trace linked cartridges" -- large-caliber machine gun ammunition used to destroy unarmored vehicles and helicopters and suppress infantry and anti-tank positions.

Alliant, a primary supplier of ammunition to the military, was the sole bidder on the contract, which runs through an estimated completion date of Sept. 30, 2018.
