Baker to Provide CM/CI on City of Chesapeake/Dominion Boulevard Project

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Michael Baker Jr., Inc., an engineering unit of Michael Baker Corporation (NYSE MKT:BKR), has been awarded a construction management/inspection (CM/CI) contract for the $188 million, 3.8-mile-long Dominion Boulevard improvements project in the City of Chesapeake, Va. Baker's CM/CI contract, as a subconsultant to McDonough Bolyard Peck, Inc. (Fairfax, Va.), includes a four-year term and a value of $7.5 million. The project commenced January 7, 2013.

Specifically, Baker will provide a broad range of CM/CI services in support of the phased construction project which includes roadway widening, a tolling component, total replacement of an existing draw bridge and approaches, and modifications to the intersections to provide a new, four-lane, limited-access highway and a new open road toll collection facility. The project includes 9 bridges for which Baker is the lead CM/CI entity, and 24 retaining walls.
