New images, story details fuel hype for Game of Thrones Ascent

Updated

We've been following the progress Disruptor Beam's Facebook offering Game of Thrones: Ascent for months now, and while the game didn't launch before the end of 2012 as we were hoping, the title based on the works of George R.R. Martin does seem to be coming along nicely. The developer has now released a new series of screenshots and a complex storyline introduction to get us ready for the game's upcoming release, which definitely seems like something series fans won't want to miss.

" If you are familiar with Westeros, you know that treachery and danger lurk in the land. Game of Thrones Ascent will take you there. The storyline is spun alongside the events of "A Song of Ice and Fire" as written by George R.R. Martin and depicted by HBO. Disruptor Beam has partnered with both to craft a twisting storyline that progresses with each decision you make," writes Tim Crosby, lead game designer, via the Storyline Diary. "In Game of Thrones Ascent, you'll play as a newly minted noble who rises to power during the events that lead to the outbreak of the War of the Five Kings."

Throughout Game of Thrones: Ascent, players will have access to a variety of advisors and Sworn Swords that can do their bidding. These aids can be sent out on missions, but they may not always come back with news of success. As a nobleman (or woman), your word will have a lot of weight throughout gameplay, so you'll need to make decisions with consequences that will affect your game into the future.

We still don't know that many in-depth specifics about the way Game of Thrones Ascent will play, but if you're interested in learning more, you can read the full developer diary or check out the screenshots above. Stay tuned for more, as we'll make sure to let you know when Game of Thrones Ascent is available to play for free on Facebook.
