The New York Times Celebrates 15thAnniversary Season of 'TimesTalks'
Winter 2013 Program Boasts All-Star Lineup at Sundance Film Festival and in New York
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- TimesTalks, The New York Times's acclaimed series of live conversations between Times journalists and leading figures in culture, the arts and politics, will mark its 15th anniversary year with an exclusive series of events, including TimesTalks at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival and a special Winter season of programs in New York.
TimesTalks has brought some of the world's most recognizable names in film, music, politics, ideas, fashion, food and books to live audiences across the country and internationally since its launch in 1998. Star-studded TimesTalks alumni include Madeleine Albright, George Clooney, Jeremy Irons, Stephen King, Karl Lagerfeld, Yoko Ono, Nancy Pelosi, Salman Rushdie and Denzel Washington, along with renowned Times columnists David Brooks, David Carr, Thomas Friedman, Nicholas Kristof and Paul Krugman.
Kicking off the Winter 2013 season, TimesTalks at the Sundance Film Festival will present engaging discussions with independent film directors and actors making news at the Festival, including Dave Grohl, David Gordon Green, Juno Temple and Robin Weigert. Melena Ryzik, lead writer for The Times's Carpetbagger blog, will moderate TimesTalks at the Festival, beginning Jan. 22 at the Cinema Café at the Festival's Filmmakers Lodge.
Access to TimesTalks at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City will be for credentialed Festival attendees. TimesTalks will be available to the public via live stream, which is free to view, at www.TimesTalks.com and www.Sundance.org/Video/Live.
TimesTalks has also unveiled its lineup for Winter programs at TheTimesCenter in New York. TimesTalks at TheTimesCenter will include conversations with the creators of "Portlandia," Fred Armisen, Carrie Brownstein and Jonathan Krisel; interviews with Grammy Award-winning artists Josh Groban and Norah Jones, who will also perform live; and Harvey Fierstein and Cyndi Lauper on the upcoming Broadway show "Kinky Boots," with a live musical performance by cast members.
TimesTalks at TheTimesCenter will be streamed live and free to view at www.Livestream.com/NYTimes.
As TimesTalks commemorates 15 years of its unique conversation series, it will continue to broaden its reach to deliver The New York Times experience to more audiences around the world, building on previous events held in Paris, London, Madrid, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and in New York, as well as TimesTalks at the Sundance Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival.
