American Water Works Company, Inc. Makes Donation to American Water Charitable Foundation
VOORHEES, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- American Water Works Company, Inc. (NYS: AWK) , the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company, today announced that it made a contribution of $7 million to the American Water Charitable Foundation. The contribution was made in December 2012.
Established in 2010 with a founding contribution from American Water, the American Water Charitable Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides a formal way to demonstrate the company's ongoing commitment to being a good neighbor, citizen, and contributor to the communities where American Water and its employees live, work and operate. The Foundation helps support American Water employee-identified nonprofit endeavors.
"American Water created this foundation as a way to stand alongside our employees and primarily support their efforts to give back, through donations and volunteer efforts, to the communities we serve. Our ability to grow the foundation helps to increase the support we can provide to our employees and the charitable organizations that they truly care about and want to help," said American Water President and CEO Jeff Sterba.
