Samsung Reaches 100 Million Milestone With Galaxy S Series
South Korean giant Samsung has announced that its flagship Galaxy S series of Google Android smartphones has now surpassed 100 million units. That figure represents sell-in to its global distribution sales channels and includes all three generations of the device since its launch in June 2010.
The original Galaxy S has now reached more than 24 million in global channel shipments, of which 10 million were within the first seven months after launch. The subsequent Galaxy S II is up to 40 million shipments, including 10 million in the first five months. The latest Galaxy S III has now topped 40 million in unit channel sales.

Samsung continues to be Apple's biggest rival in the competitive smartphone market, and overtook the iPhone maker as the top smartphone vendor in the world last year.
