Ariad Pharmaceuticals gained approval from the Food and Drug Administration for its chronic myeloid leukemia drug Iclusig in mid-December. The drug is currently approved for patients who don't respond to treatment with Novartis' Gleevec, Tasigna, or Bristol-Myers Squibb's Sprycel. With FDA approval now complete, the big question mark hanging over Ariad in 2013 is whether its Iclusig launch will be successful.
