Xylem announces $300K contract for mass spectrometry technology

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Xylem Inc. (NYS: XYL) , a leading global water technology company focused on addressing the world's most challenging water issues, announced today that it has been awarded a $300,000 contract by NASA to provide special mass spectrometry technology with the ultimate goal of detecting water on the moon.

NASA is currently developing a rover-based system under its RESOLVE program to analyze for water and other chemical compounds in moon dust on a possible future lunar mission. Xylem will provide a miniaturized sector-field mass spectrometer that incorporates its patented IonCCD™* array detector for the detection of water and other target compounds.
