The Western world is zombie-obsessed these days, but more specifically gaga over The Walking Dead. That said, it's no surprise that the next video game to cash in on pay tribute to the acclaimed comic book and TV series is headed for the Wii U. According to Digital Spy, the upcoming shooter The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct will land on Nintendo's new console.

The Wii U version of the FPS will be nearly identical to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC iterations, all of which are due out in Europe on March 29. Of course, that's save for one consideration: the Wii U GamePad. While most likely not as immersive as its first zombie game, ZombiU, developer Terminal Reality said the game's inventory system on the Wii U will make extensive use of the tablet controller.

"We didn't want to change the game, because the game had already been established, so we tried to say, 'What can we augment with the Wii U version? That's where it's basically a more elegant inventory management system," Terminal Reality producer Glenn Gamble told Digital Spy. "With the Wii U you have access to your backpack at all times, so you can tap what weapons you want, you can drop stuff. It's a lot more streamlined."

Unfortunately, there's no official word yet on a North American release date. Now, if we can personally leave Merle for dead on a rooftop in-game, we can wait a bit longer ... jerk.
