GM to Open New IT Center in Georgia

Updated

General Motors is to open a new IT facility in Georgia, the company announced in a press release. It will hire around 1,000 people to staff it. The move is part of a company initiative to bring the bulk of its IT needs in-house; the Georgia center is the third out of four facilities planned for this purpose.

GM considers the location of the new complex, in the Atlanta suburb of Roswell, to be ideal. "Locating this center in Atlanta makes good business sense," the company quoted its CIO Randy Mott as saying. "We can draw from a deep pool of high tech expertise through the surrounding colleges, universities and talent residing in the area."
