Alcoa Promotes Monica Orbe to Director, Corporate Affairs

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Alcoa (NYS: AA) announced today that Monica Orbe has been promoted to Director, Corporate Affairs effective January 1, 2013. Orbe is responsible for external communications and media relations; crisis communications; brand, advertising, social and digital media; and communications matters that impact Alcoa's corporate reputation. She succeeds Libby Archell, who is leaving Alcoa to take a position at another company.

Orbe most recently was Director, Communications for Alcoa's Engineered Products and Solutions (EPS) business, which includes the following groups: Alcoa Power and Propulsion, Alcoa Fastening Systems, Alcoa Forgings and Extrusions, Alcoa Wheel and Transportation Products, and Building and Construction Systems. The EPS business had 2011 revenues of $5.4 billion and employs approximately 22,000 people in 17 countries.

Before coming to Alcoa, Orbe was a Vice President, Global Communications at Lazard, a financial advisory and asset management firm. Earlier, she served as a Director of Communications for Bear Stearns in New York. Orbe also has worked at cable network CNBC and CNBC.com, where she co-created and produced "Power Lunch." She started her career with ABC News in New York, following graduation from New York University, where she studied Journalism and Spanish Literature.
