Coca-Cola Buys Sixth-Largest U.S. Coke Bottler
Coca-Colaannounced Wednesday that it has acquired the Sacramento Coca-Cola Bottling Company, the sixth-largest (formerly) independent Coca-Cola bottler in the United States. Sacramento Coca-Cola currently distributes Coca-Cola products in all or part of the nine northern California Counties of Sacramento, Yolo, Solano, Placer, El Dorado, Amador, Stanislaus, Sutter, and Tuolumne.
Coke did not disclose the exact purchase price, saying only that it "approximates nine times earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA)."
Sacramento Coca-Cola employs nearly 500 people. Sacramento Coca-Cola Bottling Company was founded in 1927 whenNathan M. Sellersacquired the rights to sell Coca-Cola in most of Northern California, north of San Francisco.
