GSE Systems' Wren Earns Business Partnership Award

SYKESVILLE, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Dr. Graham Wren of GSE Systems, Inc. (NYSE MKT: GVP) has received the Outstanding Contribution to Knowledge Exchange Award recognizing his commitment to bring academics and industry together. He landed this honor in December at Scotland's Interface Excellence Awards. Wren is the Managing Director of GSE's operations in Europe and Executive Chairman of the University of Strathclyde's Business Engagement Group.

Wren played a major role in raising more than $324 million (£200 million) of funding for major projects in Scotland in the last five years, including Strathclyde University's Technology and Innovation Centre, the Advanced Forming Research Centre and the Power Networks Demonstration Centre.

"GSE Systems understands the importance of strong academic partnerships for the long-term health of industry," said the company's CEO Jim Eberle. "We have worked with Strathclyde since 2007 and Graham has greatly contributed to the success of our simulation technology as part of the university's curriculum."

Interface (www.interface-online.org.uk/3) established the awards this year to acknowledge the significant contribution that knowledge exchange is making to Scotland's economy. Seven Scottish businesses and three individuals were short listed for the awards, which recognize the achievements resulting from collaborative partnerships between business and academia.

"The University of Strathclyde is committed to working with the business community, ensuring that our world class research provides practical benefits for industry and society," said Wren. "I am delighted this work has been recognized with such a prestigious award. It is a fitting endorsement of the excellent partnerships being developed between the University and companies throughout Scotland, the UK, and beyond."

Strathclyde is also home to the GSE Systems Power Station Simulator Suite, a $3.2 million (£2 million) facility that underpins research, education and continuing professional development activities at the university.
