Saying "out with resolutions, in with commitments" Americans united in 30 major U.S. cities to unite around a commitment to healthy, active lives year round

CHANHASSEN, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Tens of thousands runners and walkers started off the New Year on the right foot and showed their commitment by participating in Commitment Day 5K, a nationwide pledge inspiring Americans to commit to living and supporting a healthy and active way of life. The movement, which occurred in 30 major cities across the U.S., was created by Life Time - The Healthy Way of Life Company - known for its active role in promoting fitness, health and well being through its nationwide programs.

This year marked the first year of the event and served as the symbolic launch to a year-round Healthy Way of Life movement around making genuine and last commitments to healthy eating, exercise, personal responsibility, giving and a healthy planet. Commitment Day participants were encouraged to raise funds as part of the Commitment Day walk/run for the Founding Charity Partner of their choice including, Special Olympics, MusiCares, Folds of Honor Augie's Quest - MDA and Life Time Foundation.

Founding Corporate Partners also made Commitment Day possible. Corporations such as Best Blue, Blue365, Hosting, Intereum, Interline Brands, Japs-Olson, Life Fitness, Loffler, Matrix, SNAP, SPRI, Staples, Whole Foods and Wooday all made the multi-city events possible.

With the launch of the Commitment Day movement, all Americans are invited to share their personal pledges toward better health and wellness and join the following Founding Celebrity Ambassadors: Eric Decker, Larysa Didio, Chris Freytag, Joel Harper, Sarah Haskins, Jerry Kill, Glen Mason, Glen and Alisha Perkins, Christian Ponder, Major Dan Rooney, Kelly Rowland, Ricky Rubio, Norwood Teague, Darrell Thompson and Mike Yeo.
