Tens of thousands of walkers and runners started off the New Year on the right foot today - literally. Participating in Commitment Day 5K walk/run events across more than 25 cities, individuals simultaneously declared their commitment to live healthy, active lives. The events also served as the launch of a year-round Commitment Day movement, urging all Americans to commit to healthy eating, exercise, personal responsibility, giving and a healthy planet. The movement, which was supported by dozens of Founding Charitable Partners, Founding Corporate Partners and Founding Ambassadors, was created by Life Time Fitness, Inc. (NYS: LTM) - The Healthy Way of Life Company. January 1, 2013, marked the inaugural Commitment Day 5K event.

Commitment Day participants were encouraged to raise funds the Commitment Day Founding Charity Partner of their choice, including Special Olympics, MusiCares, Folds of Honor, Augie's Quest - MDA and the Life Time Foundation.

Supporting the launch of the movement were Founding Corporate Partners Best Buy, Blue365, Hosting, Intereum, Interline Brands, Japs-Olson, Life Fitness, Loffler, Matrix, SNAP, SPRI, Staples, Whole Foods and Woodway.
