Honda Expands FourTrax ATV Recall by 19,500 Units
On Wednesday, Honda Motor's American Honda subsidiary announced a recall of about 19,500 FourTrax all-terrain vehicles (2,900 had already been recalled in February 2012) because of the potential for a failure of welds on the ATV's front right and left upper suspension arms. The vehicles in question were sold by Honda ATV dealers nationwide between September 2011 and November 2012. Both two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive ATVs are affected.
In the recall announcement, Honda noted that such welds appear to have failed in at least 10 incidents, "including one in which a rider suffered a sprained wrist."
Honda recommends that owners of these vehicles stop using them "immediately" and contact their local Honda ATV deal to schedule a free repair. Honda is contacting owners directly to inform them of the recall.
Shares of Honda are trading 0.2% lower today and were last quoted at $36.12 per share.
