WHAT: Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE network is coming to Lewiston and Auburn, Maine on Dec. 20. Verizon Wireless customers in Lewiston, Auburn and 26 additional nearby communities will be able to experience the speed and capabilities offered by the nation's largest 4G LTE network when the company introduces the service tomorrow.

BACKGROUND: Two years after its launch, the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network offers more 4G LTE coverage than all other competitors' networks combined, with coverage currently available to more than 250 million people throughout the United States. On Thursday, Dec. 20, the network will expand to offer 4G LTE service in more than 470 markets throughout the country.

"With speeds up to ten times faster than 3G, Verizon Wireless' 4G LTE network will soon offer customers in Lewiston-Auburn, and other nearby communities, tremendous opportunities to better connect and innovate," commented Christine Berberich, New England President for Verizon Wireless. Since 2000, Verizon Wireless has invested more than $3 billion into its New England network, including more than $297 million in 2011, to increase coverage and capacity on behalf of customers.
