Microsoftannounced increased production and expanded availability of its new Surface PC this week. The company said in a statement that it will be keeping temporary Microsoft "holiday stores" open into the New Year, and even converting some locations into permanent Microsoft retail outlets. Additionally, the company confirmed that it will have the Surface at other retail locations by "mid-December."

Two such locations have already confirmed their participation in sales of the tablet-laptop hybrid. On Tuesday, Staplesannounced it is selling Microsoft Surface at its stores, and online, beginning December 12, offering models priced at $499, $599, and $699.

Then, on December 12, Best Buy followed suit, confirming that it began selling the Surface at some locations at noon CST Wednesday, and will have the device for sale at all Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile locations by Sunday, December 16.
