G&K Services' Employees Generously Support Greater Twin Cities United Way
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- G&K Services, Inc. announced today that its employees across four locations in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul pledged just over $125,000 for the 2012 "Power of We" United Way Workplace campaign. The G&K Services Foundation offered to match employees' pledges dollar for dollar, making G&K's total contribution more than $250,000 this year. The company's employees exceeded their goal to increase pledges by 10 percent over 2011's level.
"Our employees have been generous supporters of United Way throughout the years," said Jeffrey L. Wright, G&K's Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. "This year, the 'Power of We' campaign struck a chord with our employees and their continued support made achieving our goal a reality."
"The team at G&K really went the extra mile for the community this year," said Andy Goldman-Gray, Senior Vice President of Workplace Fundraising for Greater Twin Cities United Way. "Their generous 110% effort shows G&K's commitment to the Twin Cities."
Over the past five years, G&K employees in the Twin Cities have pledged over $610,000 to support United Way. Together with contributions from the G&K Services Foundation matching program, the company has contributed $1.1 million to Greater Twin Cities United Way over the same time period. The G&K Services Foundation's mission is to "Build Communities That Work," supporting education and job training in the communities where the company does business and where its employees live and work. The Foundation will designate its funds to two of United Way's impact areas, Education and Basic Needs.
