American Airlines Pilots to Join Merger Talks
Pilots at American Airlines have voted to join merger talks aimed at marrying the company with US Airways , according to a news update from AA's pilots union.
The Allied Pilots Association said in the statement that a group of AA's creditors have invited its members to join the discussions. The APA's board of directors voted almost unanimously to accept.
Last week, APA voted to approve a new work contract with the airline that will see them receive shares in the company once it emerges from its current bankruptcy.
AA has still not made a decision as to whether it will accept US Airways' merger offer or attempt to emerge from bankruptcy on its own. AA CEO Tim Horton told The Wall Street Journal his company will make the choice "soon."
