Silicon Valley School Continues to Grow With Innovative $54 Million Financing from Wells Fargo

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Wells Fargo & Company (NYS: WFC) said it has refinanced $54 million for Valley Christian Schools - known for its Microlab experiments aboard the International Space Station - and providing capital funds enhancing the San Jose educational institution's continued growth.

The refinancing provided a non-tax exempt funding solution with more favorable terms for funding to allow increased enrollment. The school expanded Skyway Campus by almost 55,000 square feet, including a Conservatory of the Arts. The financing also provided capital to support Valley Christian High School to expand the scope of academic offerings to include cancer research in a Bio2 Safety Lab and an increase in the number of experiments involving nanotechnology and molecular research with recently acquired Atomic Force Microscopes.

"Wells Fargo's innovative capital investments strategy allowed Valley Christian to develop the Applied Math, Science and Engineering Institute which includes many innovations including experiments on the International Station," said Dr. Clifford Daugherty, Valley Christian Schools President.

"We are pleased to partner with Valley Christian Schools as they continue to grow and enhance their programs and offerings in the San Jose community," said Margot Golding, the San Francisco-based executive vice president for Wells Fargo's Education and Nonprofit Banking group, which offers a wide range of customized public finance solutions for capital improvement and a full line of banking products geared toward educational institutions. "The schools' strong foundation provides a nurturing environment for quality education, helping shape students who positively impact their communities."

An integral part of the California community, the Valley Christian High School marching band has partnered with a marching band from Beijing, China to perform as the East-West Fusion Band in the upcoming Rose Parade, a first in the parade's history. Wells Fargo's iconic Stagecoach will also be a part of the 124th Rose Parade, taking place on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 in Pasadena.
