U.S. Energy Sector Fears Missing the Boat on Liquefied Natural Gas Exports

As of the end of October, the Department of Energy had 18 applications pending for the authority to export liquefied natural gas.

International demand is growing and expert studies say the LNG market will need 15 billion cubic feet per day more in five years.

The question causing angst in the natural gas industry: Can DOE and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, which permit LNG exports and the LNG physical facilities, respectively, license exports in time for U.S. producers to act before foreign competitors grab that growing world demand?
