Expedia Will Pay a Special Dividend

Updated

Online travel services provider Expedia is to pay a special dividend in December, the company announced in a statement. The payout of $0.52 per share of common stock is payable to shareholders of record as of the close of trading on Dec. 17 and is to be paid on Dec. 28.

The dividend is in line with the company's two most recent quarterly payouts, each of which totaled $0.13 per share. Expedia follows other firms in declaring what amounts to an annual 2013 dividend before the end of the year, a move that avoids a potential rise in dividend taxes arising from the so-called "fiscal cliff."
