LONDON -- Starbucks has hit the headlines recently for tax avoidance. Although it has not acted illegally, the British public reacted by voting with their feet and boycotting the chain. This -- and not due to any pressure from the U.K. government, as politicians have admitted -- has led the American company to open talks with tax authorities about paying more tax, in line with others such as Whitbread's Costa Coffee.
