Sparton Defense and Security Researcher to Present at Defense Manufacturing Conference in Orlando, Florida

DE LEON SPRINGS, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Sparton Corporation (NYS: SPA) announced today that Mr. Lee Bendix from Sparton Defense and Security will speak at the Defense Manufacturing Conference in Orlando, Florida on November 26, 2012. Mr. Bendix will present his paper, "Circuits Raise Bar On Maximum No-Fire Stimuli." This paper reviews electronic circuit design methods as related to the rigorous military standard: Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance (HERO). The HERO standard provides design and testing criteria to assure that military ordnance are not accidentally triggered and fired by spurious radio frequency electronic circuit emissions, also known as Electromagnetic Interference (EMI). Mr. Bendix utilizes his knowledge of semiconductor chip design, microwave circuitry design, power line transmission line design, and fiber optic circuitry design to develop an order of magnitude improvement in the reduction of radio frequency electromagnetic susceptibility in electronic circuitry when tested against the HERO standard.

"This breakthrough will ultimately make the storage and transportation of ordnance safer for all servicemen and servicewomen around the world," said Jim Lackemacher, Vice-President and General Manager of Sparton Defense and Security.
